This year marks the seventh season of Houston Selects existence. The mission of the Houston Select remains to be as it has always been. That is to work hard is to continue to develop our team into well round young men and top athletes. While there is without question a desire to develop them into some of the best D1 athletes, we want them obtain and maintain D1 academics as well. They will continue to be encouraged to strive for academic excellence and obtain a college degree in their particular area of passion.
While we are a Basketball Organization we still engage in other activities outside of basketball. One of our goals is to help grow and develop this team into young men that society can be proud of. The team participates in community service activities such as working at the Houston Food Bank to help feed our community.
These youth are of various religious, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds from all over Houston and many of its neighboring cities. Eighty-five percent of the boys are honor students. One thing that all truly have in common is their and dedication to the sport of basketball.
The Houston Select 2014 Team is a group of 9th grade boys, ages 15-and-under, who are serious about basketball. They have continually developed their game by competing at the local, regional, state, and national levels. Even though they current hold over 50 titles under their belt, the one that stands out the most is the 2010 NATIONAL AAU CHAMPIONS. Last year, they won the National Championship game and took possession of being the #1 TEAM in the Nation.
